Data on defaulting companies/persons is captured from advertisements issued by various banks in various newspapers. The key information is entered in the database format. Cleaning of names standardization is done.
 
Since the source is newpapers only, this database is not comprehensive.
 
BOMBAY STOCK EXCHANGE
 
Companies Delisted 
Data on companies that have been delisted by BSE was obtained from BSE. This was in Excel format. The key information was converted into a database format. Cleaning of names of the entities was done.

CENTRAL BOARD OF EXCISE & CUSTOMS
 
Companies/Persons 
Data on companies/directors/proprietors was downloaded from CBEC’s website, which was in html format. The key information - name of entity/person, regulatory action taken etc. was entered into a database format. Cleaning of names of the entities was done.
 
CENTRAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION
 
Companies/Persons 
All press releases available on CBI’s website were first downloaded. The press releases which were of relevance to watchoutinvestors were segregated. The key information-name of entity/person, date of order, defaults committed, regulatory action taken etc. were entered into a database format. In the process, a large degree of standardization was done. For example, the same regulatory action or regulatory charge which was worded in several different ways in CBI’s press releases was standardized. Cleaning of names of both the entities and persons was done.
 
CENTRAL DEPOSITORY SERVICES (INDIA) LTD.
 
Companies With High Demat Requests 
Data on companies that have high demat requests is downloaded from the CDSL website. This is in html format. The key information is converted into a database format. Cleaning of names of the entities is done.
 
DEBT RECOVERY TRIBUNALS
 
Companies/Persons 
Data on companies/persons is captured from advertisements issued by various DRTs in various newspapers. The key information is entered in the database format. Cleaning of names standardization is done.
 
Since the source is newpapers only, this database is not comprehensive.
 
Moreover, the appeals filed by the respondents with DRAT are not being covered presently.
 
EMPLOYEES' PROVIDENT FUND ORGANISATION
 
Companies 
Data on companies was downloaded from EPFO’s website, which was in PDF format. The data was then converted to Excel format. The default amounts of a company across various locations were aggregated. The key information - name of entity, amount in default etc. was entered into a database format. Cleaning of names of the entities was done. 

INSTITUTE OF CHARTERED ACCOUNTANTS OF INDIA
 
Companies/Persons 
Only one record has been created from IRDA Press Release. No data has been forthcoming from  ICAI.

INSURANCE REGULATORY & DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY
 
Companies 
All press releases available on IRDA’s website were first downloaded. The press release which related to watchoutinvestors were segregated. The key information-name of entity/person, date of order, defaults committed, regulatory action taken etc. were entered into a database format. In the process, a large degree of standardization was done. For example, the same regulatory action or regulatory charge which was worded in several different ways in IRDA’s press releases was standardized. Cleaning of names of both the entities and persons was done. 
 
MINISTRY OF CORPORATE AFFAIRS
 
Registrar Of Companies 
Data was requested from all – Registrars of Companies. The data was received in typed/word format. The key information-name of entity/person, date of order, defaults committed, regulatory action taken etc. were entered into a database format. In the process, a large degree of standardization was done. For example, the same regulatory action which was worded in several different ways in RoC’s data was standardized. Cleaning of names of both the entities and persons was done.
 
Company Law Board 
Data was requested from all offices of Company Law Board. The data was received from some of them in typed format. The key information-name of entity/person, date of order, defaults committed, regulatory action taken etc. were entered into a database format. In the process, a large degree of standardization was done. For example, the same regulatory action which was worded in several different ways in CLB’s data was standardized. Cleaning of names both the entities and persons was done.
 
In addition, orders are downloaded from CLB’s website, which is in html format. The key information - name of entity, regulatory action taken etc. was entered into a database format. Cleaning of names of the entities is done.
 
Official Liquidator 
Data was requested from all offices of Official Liquidators. The data was received from some of them in typed format. The key information-name of entity/person, date of order, defaults committed, regulatory action taken etc. were entered into a database format. In the process, a large degree of standardization was done. For example, the same regulatory action which was worded in several different ways in Official Liquidators’ data was standardized. Cleaning of names of both the entities and persons was done.
 
Simplified Exit Scheme 
Data was requested from all Registrars of Companies. The data received is in typed/excel format. The key information-name of entity/person, exit status etc. were entered into a database format. In the process, a large degree of standardization was done. Cleaning of names of both the entities and persons was done.
 
NATIONAL HOUSING BANK
 
Housing Finance Companies 
Data on housing finance companies was downloaded from NHB’s website, which was in html/word format. The key information - name of entity, regulatory action taken etc. was entered into a database format. Cleaning of names of the entities was done. 
 
In addition, advertisements issued regularly by the NHB in various newspapers are being used as source for creating additional database. In this case also, the data is entered in the database format, names are cleaned and standardization is done.
 
NATIONAL SECURITIES DEPOSITORY LTD. 
 
Companies With High and Long Pending Demat Requests 
Data on companies that have high demat requests is downloaded from the NSDL website. This is in html format. The key information is converted into a database format. Cleaning of names of the entities is done.

Data on companies that have been delisted/suspended was obtained from NSE. This was in word format. The key information – name of entity, regulatory action etc. was entered into a database format. Cleaning of names of the entities was done.

Data on brokers that have been derecognised by the NSE was obtained from NSE. This was in word format. The key information – Name of entity, regulatory action etc. was entered into a database format. Cleaning of names of the entities was done.

Data on NBFCs was downloaded from RBI’s website, which was in html/word format. The key information - name of entity etc. was entered into a database format. Cleaning of names of entities was done.
 
In addition, advertisements issued regularly by the RBI in various newspapers are being used as source for creating additional database. In this case also, the data is entered in the database format, names are cleaned and standardization is done.
 
Co-operative Banks
Data on Co-operative Banks is regularly downloaded from RBI’s website, which is in html/word format. The key information - name of entity etc. is entered into a database format. Cleaning of names of entities is done. 
 
In addition, advertisements issued regularly by the RBI in various newspapers are being used as source for creating additional database. In this case also, the data is entered in the database format, names are cleaned and standardization is done.
 
 
SECURITIES AND EXCHANGE BOARD OF INDIA

All press releases, Chairman’s orders, Member’s orders, Adjudicating Officers orders and SAT orders available on SEBI’s website were first downloaded. The documents which related to watchoutinvestors were segregated. The key information-name of entity/person, date of order, defaults committed, regulatory action taken etc. were entered into a database format. In the process, a large degree of standardization was done. For example, the same regulatory action or regulatory charge which was worded in several different ways in SEBI’s orders was standardized. Cleaning of names of both the entities and persons was done. 
 
Each press release was linked to Chairman’s/Member’s orders. In the process, it was discovered that there are several press releases for which no Chairman’s/Member’s orders are available on SEBI’s website. Moreover, there are several Chairman’s/Member’s orders for which no press release was hosted on SEBI’s website. Subsequently, the records were linked to SAT’s orders. Again, it was discovered that there are many missing SAT orders.

Since the source is newpapers only, this database is not comprehensive.

SECURITIES APPELLATE TRIBUNAL
Most of the orders of Securities appellate Tribunal are posted on SEBI’s website. The available SAT orders have been linked to the appropriate SEBI Chairman’s/Member’s orders.
